Changing Lives of Appalachian Women in Need

Please visit this page often as we will feature success stories from graduates of the NOSW programs.

Dr. Brandi Clark

The NOSW Foundation is pleased to highlight the accomplishments of Dr. Brandi Clark. She attended the NOSW Program at Lees-McRae College in 2013. After completing the program, she attended Lees-McRae College and graduated in 2018. She went on to attend North Caroline State College of Veterinary Medicine. She graduated in May of 2022 with a doctoral degree in Veterinary Medicine. She currently works as a vet in Las Vegas, Nevada, but is saving money with the goal of returning to North Carolina. Brandi says she misses the green spaces and the quietness of the mountains!  She is one of the many examples we can share that speaks to the success of women from the Appalachian region when given access to NOSW programming, support, and resources.

Meet Meg!

Margaret (Meg) Quinn is a graduate of the 2010 class of the New Opportunity School for Women at Lees-McRae College, Banner Elk, NC. Meg remembers "how scared [she] was the first day she arrived" for the NOSW 3-week residential session and that her "self-esteem grew by leaps and bounds." In the fall of 2015 Meg graduated from Lees-McRae with BS degrees in both Criminal Justice and Psychology. She now serves as the director of NOSW at Bluefield College. Meg previously served as a member of the NOSW Foundation board and is shown in the photo on the right. We invite you to support the NOSW FOUNDATION in its mission.
